Seth Thomas Clock Co. mantle
clock OG, ca 1863. A typical 30
hour, two weight, brass movement,
striking a coil gong on the hours.
The case is 25" high and covered
with mahogany veneer. The veneer
is not bad as these early OG's go, but
there are some small chips on the
bottom board and a corner nick or
two. Both glasses are original as is
the painted zinc dial and pair of old
hands. There is 75%-to 90% of the
paper label remaining on the back-
board, old brass bob inside and an
iron bell on which the alarm rings. It
will need a suspension and a pair of
iron weights to complete the clock. I
did not attempt to run the clock but
the movement is complete, albeit
dirty, and is signed, "S. Thomas /
Thomaston, Conn. "U. S. A.". $75-$150.

Seth Thomas Clock Co. "Column
Shell", ca 1863. Rosewood veneered
case is 25" high and basically in pret-
ty good condition, with no great loss
or veneer, perhaps a corner nick and a
flake of veneer off here and there. The
columns are shell and very nice, the
capitals and bases are gold and not as
nice. The gold was poorly redone. The
bottom glass is fine, not broken, what
you see is part of an old paper picture
that is brittle and disintegrating.
Original painted dial has flaked badly
and Bubba practiced his finger paint-
ing. I strongly recommend you send it
off to a more accomplished painter.
Over 90% of the old paper dial is
inside and is signed, "Seth Thomas /
Thomaston, Conn.". The 30 hour brass
movement is signed, "S. Thomas, /
Plymouth, Conn. / U.S.A.". There are no weights, there is an old brass
bob, pair of hands, and a wire gong on which the movement strikes the
hours. Dirty and rough, but plenty of potential. Ly-Seth Thomas, pages
521 and 522. $50-$100.

United Clock Co. electric
"Fireplace" clock. Excellent
overall condition, clock is
running and the fireplace is
burning. The case is 10"
wide, 9" high, a near perfect
wood case, painted designs
and applied and painted dec-
orations. The dial is signed
and there is a complete label
underneath.
The
electric
cord is near new. Excellent
overall. $50-$100.

10.5" high, clock is running, log

intact, electric cord is in good
condition. Bowed glass over the
like new signed dial. $50-$100.

Seth Thomas Clock Co. "Column
Gilt", ca 1863. Rosewood veneer
case is 25" tall and is very dirty, has
veneer chips all over, and the gilt
columns are very bad and should be
redone in some fashion, not neces-
sarily in gilt. It does have decent
glasses, bottom reverse painted, and
the painted metal dial is very good.
There is a good label inside, but no
weights, pendulum bob, hands, or
key. The label and 30 hour brass
movement are both signed Seth
Thomas. Ly-Seth Thomas, pages
521 and 522. $50-$100.

Seth Thomas Clock Co. "Column
Gilt", ca 1863. The rough label inside
is a little less than 50% in place, but
the important sections are there, and it
says, "Seth Thomas, / Plymouth
Hollow, Conn." The 30 hour move-
ment is signed similarly, "S. Thomas /
Plymouth, Conn. / U.S.A.". There is a
pair of old iron weights, old painted
dial, paint still good but with spider
webs, old pair of hands, old brass bob,
and a winding crank. For whatever rea-
son this rosewood veneered case is one
inch taller than other "Column"
clocks, standing 26" high. Clear glass-
es, original door latch, and repainted
columns. There are some chips on the
base and top, in between is nice, just
dirty and untouched. Ly-Seth Thomas,
pages 521-522. $50-$100.
