Large French carriage clock, 8 day, time,
strike, and repeat function. A little differ-
ent from the normal French carriage
clock, it has a serial number on the move-
ment, "#2458", and that number is also
inscribed on the two ended winding key.
The dial is signed, "A. Golay Leresche de
Fils / Geneve / 2 Rue De La Parix /
Paris". That same name is also on both
sides of the two ended original key. There
are five good beveled glasses. The case is
7 inches high, the brass is dull, has not
been polished in a while. The movement
is running briskly, and striking the coil
gong on half hours and hours. Push the
button on top of the case and it strikes the
previous hour. $600-$750.

French Industrial Clocks were primari-
ly made by Guilmet beginning around
1875. Many of his clocks had automa-
tion, such as his Windmill Clock, ca
1890. Our clock is an exact replica of
Guilmet's clock. Two examples of his
Windmill Clock's are pictured in the
book, "Mystery, Novelty & Fantasy
Clocks", by Derek Roberts, on pages
265 and 268. Our clock is 20.5" high,
while Guilmet's originals were in the
16" to 17" high range. Like his, our
windmill winds separate from the
clock movement. The movement to
drive the windmill is in the door at the
base and drives the sails at will, and are
not connected to the clock movement.
The case is metal, silver plated, other
parts are gilt. Like the originals this
one has a thermometer and barometer,
and an 8 day time only movement. If
you like the French Industrial series
clocks, particularly the automatons,
you will enjoy this piece and its very
reasonable minimum. $750-$1000.

grass grow, it is not for everyone. $500-$750.
