$200
Waterbury Clock Co. enameled iron
case clock, "Ebro-With Figure", ca
1893. The clock is touted to have a
bronze statue and bronze ornaments,
standing16.5" high, and identical to
the clock pictured in Ly-Waterbury
#1000, except this clock has a paper
dial and an open escape mechanism.
The clock in the books is said to have
an Ivory Dial and Ivory Center. The
hands, sash, glass, metal back cover,
statue, movement, gong, and all case
ornaments, are original and correct.
The 8 day movement is signed, has
rack and snail strike on a standing
Cathedral gong, and a correct pendu-
lum. The clock was running when it
left the previous owners home. In
transportation the strike got out of whack and the running spring broke or
the click fell away from the slot. Either way, service will be required.
$350-$500.

"E. N. Welch / M.F.G. Co.", signed on the 8
day movement of this superb wall clock that
he made for the English market. The case is
mahogany veneered with inlays on the tail, all
around the door edge, great burl/flame
mahogany backboard inside, a carved top with
finials, spool turned full columns with finials
on the bottom. I would never have guessed this
was a Welch clock until I pulled the dial off
and saw the signature on the original 8 day
time and striking movement. It is running and
strikes a large nickel bell, and has the original
imitation one jar pendulum. No extra holes
anywhere, the dial pan is original but was
repainted. Note the fancy dial surround behind
the door glass, a lattice cutout design with red
cloth
backing.
The
case
has
been
cleaned/restored to its present immaculate
condition. The glass could be a replacement,
and the top half inch of the carved top was bro-
ken off and glued back, otherwise the clock is
superb. $750-$1000.

Very large and unusual French Barometer.
Exquisitely carved and decorated, clean, wal-
nut/mahogany case. The case is dark, but clean
and nice, no finish or smoke has been removed.
Unusually large blood red thermometer with the
barometer below. I piddled around for hours try-
ing to figure out how to set the barometer hand.
It sets by turning the finial on the bottom. Bowed
glass over the barometer. Porcelain dials are let-
tered in French. Lower dial is signed, "Maison de
/ L'ing'r Chevallier / Opticien / Place de Poui,
Neuf, No.15 / Paris".The tubes, liquids, strings,
and all parts inside are original and in good
working order. The insides items are sealed and
packed for shipping, but I would not recommend
commercial shipping. If possible it should be
delivered by Joe Brewer or your own vehicle.
They do not come any nicer than this one. $1000-
$2000.

German shelf cuckoo. Solid
plate 8 day brass movement
is signed with the Junghans
trademark. Possibly made
late 1800's or early 1900's.
The case and all internal parts
appear to be original and have not
been cleaned. The top leaf ornament
is removable, full turned columns,
old hands and numerals, original
backboard with coil gong, and small
latching side windows. Old wood
bird, bellows, and all internal parts
are original. The clock is running
and operating, but I would certainly
have it serviced if I expected to run
it consistently. The case is 21" high,
12" wide, complete and in very good
original condition. $600-$800.

Rare model of the LeCoultre
Atmospheric clock (Atmos). Serial
number is 69,354 which is the ear-
liest Atmos I have sold or know
about. It dates to about 1950-1960
which is 10-20 years earlier than
any I have seen. Instead of the out-
side dome lifting off, this model
has a hinged door in front and the
on/off lever is inside, just below
the dial. There is a presentation
inscription on the base dated 1960.
The case is smaller than others, 9"
high, 7" wide. It is clean inside,
signed several places, and runs but
is very sluggish. Atmos clocks do
not usually operate successfully for more than 25-50 years, so I would
suggest you have it serviced. This early model generally sells in the $750-
$1000 range. For information on serial numbers and ages of Atmos clocks
see the NAWCC Bulletin, August 1990, page 387. $500-$750.

German footed shelf cuck-
oo, ca 1880. Some restora-
tion to this clock, most
noticeably the new bellows,
repairs to the wood cuckoo
bird, and replaced hands
and numerals. The large
carved bird has been bro-
ken and repaired and there
are possibly other small
wood chips on the carvings,
but no other major breaks
or repairs. The 8 day brass
movement is running, strik-
ing a coil gong, and cook-
ing as it should. The case is
22" tall, movement held
with pins, not nuts, dating it
at least back to the 1880's if
not earlier. We do not get
many footed shelf cuckoos.
$500-$750.
