Horton's Antique Clocks
210.
$500
Ansonia Clock Co. plush wall
decoration, "Palace", ca 1886.
Red plush covered frame and
heavy cast metal objects on the
corners and 3D cast metal fig-
ures in the center. It was proba-
bly
finished
in
silver
or
Barbedieene Bronze originally.
I suspect the plaque has been
completely restored, both the
plush and the metal, although
the plush does show some age,
and if recovered was certainly
done by a professional. The
plaque is 24" high and 18"
wide, has a picture frame wire
for hanging. An identical plaque
sold at an Ohio auction last fall
for over $1000. Ly-Ansonia, page 570. $500-$1000.

Lenzkirsch RA wall clock, ca 1880. Walnut
veneered case is 33" tall, carved top and tail,
finials top and bottom, three glasses, and
ebony trim on the top, base, finials, and case
edges. Two piece porcelain dial, porcelain
RA bob insert, and porcelain beat scale. The
hands are fancy, bob is brass and nickel, and
an old key is included. The brass 8 day
movement is mounted to a brass backboard
mounting bracket. The bracket is signed,
"D.R.P. / 9 Feb 1878". A coil gong is mount-
ed to the same bracket. The movement is
signed, "Lenzkirsch / A.U.G. / 304682".
This clock is similar to many others pictured
and written about in the book, "Lenzkirsch
Clocks / The Unsigned Story", by George A.
Everett. $500-$750.

Seth Thomas
Clock
Co.
"Column Shell Large", ca
1863. The 32" high rosewood
veneered case is stunning but
you will find a corner nick
and some small veneer chips on the top
and bottom boards. The shell on the
columns is very good and the gilt capi-
tals and bases have held the gold very
well. Considering the clocks age and the
fact it has been in storage for many
years, it is impressive. A paper label
covers two thirds of the backboard and
it is near perfect and signed in part,
"Seth Thomas, / Plymouth Hollow,
Conn.". All three glasses, two door
latches, iron weights, brass pendulum
bob, and the coil gong, are no doubt
original to this case. The only thing
keeping the clock from being near perfect is the repainted dial. I would
suspect the backing around the middle glass flaked off. I doubt it would
have the flowers on clear glass. Note the 8 day brass lyre movement,
stamped with their eagle trademark and signed, "S. Thomas / Plymouth,
Conn. / U.S.A.". We probably have had better examples of the column
models but they would have barely beaten out this one. Ly-Seth Thomas,
pages 512-516. $750-$1000.

Ansonia Clock Co. clock
ornament, "Boar Hunter",
ca1904. Figure is complete
with a new spear, every-
thing else is original. The
finish was sandblasted (by
a professional clock restor-
er) and is ready for a finish
of your choice. This figure
books for $1200 and not an
easy one to find. It is 12"
high. Ly-Ansonia #2759.
$750-$1000.

Ansonia Clock Co. clock top
ornament, "Dagobert ", ca
1904. This piece is 14" high,
has been sandblasted, by a
clock restorer, and he made
the axe and the right front leg
for the horse. Both pieces
were cast in molds made
from an original Dagobert.
He did not cut the leg to size
and pin it to the missing sec-
tion. You get to do that. Ly-
Ansonia #2761. $500-$750.
