German
Black
Forest
Shield
Cuckoo clock, ca
1790. Brass and
wood movement,
pendulum support out-
side the movement, time
and strike train behind
each other. The 30 hour,
two weight movement is
running and striking cor-
rectly. The old weights
are replacements. The
larger weight goes on the
time side. New brass bob
on the old pendulum
wire. The dial is 11"
wide, 15.5" high, slightly
bowed, good paint all
over, although slightly
soiled, and with the origi-
nal hands. The door for
the cuckoo was made part
of the painting. The wood bird and all linkage are of the earliest type, and all
are in good condition considering it is over 200 years old. The huge bellows
on top are working, but are leaking. This is not a problem for the cuckoo col-
lector to repair. If you will request our computer picture you will be able to
examine the side view closely, and determine for yourself the condition of the
bird and movement. $2000-$3000.

"Rabbit In Cabbage"
automaton, ca 1890.
This is a musical
automaton by Roulette
Et Decamps. When
the rabbit comes up
out of the cabbage, his

the music is playing.
He then retreats back
into the center of the
paper mache head of
cabbage. The rabbit is
covered with white
fur, and denoting its
age, has glass eyes. It
is key wound with
on/off lever. It is work-
ing fine, recently ser-
viced. As shown in the
picture it is about 6" high and 6" wide. The cabbage leaves are white with a
tinge of green, no doubt fading over the past 120 years. $2000-$3000.
