Welcome To Horton's Antique Clock Auction
We always try to
be upbeat and optimistic about our clock auctions. In the past years our
auctions
have far surpassed anything we expected during this period of readjustment,
and that is
good. The negative side is, we are being swamped with calls from offspring
and spouses of
collectors, who have recently departed.
We started collecting in the early 1970’s at a time when clock collecting
was gaining popularity.
At that time the majority of us were in the second quarter of our lives,
25-50. During
the third quarter when the majority of us were 50-75 years old, clock
collecting really took
off, and today most collectors have reached a time of decision. Some sell
all or parts of their
collection while they are still able to make reasonable decisions. Others
leave those decisions
to their offspring and spouses, who know little or nothing about the value
of the collection or
how to arrange for their disposition. We would be happy to talk with you, or
your family,
about your options for liquidating them.
Why should you consider Horton’s before selling your collection?
• We pay a fair value.
• We pay you before we remove the clocks from your home.
• We assume all risks.
• We will buy the entire collection, or any part thereof.
• We will sell your collection in a way that will please everyone.
Most of the clocks we sell are the result of buying collections, or parts of
collections. We have
several collectors who are selling us some of their collection each year,
thereby extending the
time they are able to enjoy their clocks. We have been buying 25-50 clocks
each year, from
a northeast doctor, and it may take him another ten years to gradually sell
us all of his clocks.
Before contacting us about your collection, you should try to find the
inventory records, a list
of the clocks, pictures, descriptions, or anything that may be helpful. We
have bought collections
without inspecting the clocks personally, but it is best for you, and us, if
we inspect
the clocks. As we inspect them together we can agree on a fair price.
Most all clocks in our auctions are clocks we own. Not to say we will not
take a clock on
consignment occasionally, but we prefer to buy them. It takes as much time
to process a $100
clock as a $10,000 clock. We do take collections on consignment. There are
no collections
too large or too small. Give us a call.
