$1050
aterbury Clock Co. "Regulator No.4, Rosedale",
ca 1881. The clock is missing part of the top. If
complete it would be worth $2000-
$2500. It should be 51" high if it had
the top. Even without a top it is a
great looking hanging clock. There is
a spool railing on top, full turned
columns, and a sloping base. The
case is original, has light crazing and
the original finish underneath but
with some smoke in the cracks and
grooves. Most of the large black label
is there but has a few nicks from
weights or pendulum scraping when
moving the clock. There is a key lock
with a key. It has a porcelain beat scale, brass pen-
dulum bob, wood stick, three hands, all which are
correct and very nice. The dial is signed and has
only normal aging and wear, very nice overall.
There is a pair of brass weights to run the 8 day,
time only movement with dead beat escapement,
retaining power, and solid polished brass movement
frames. Ly- aterbury #524. $1200-$1500.

$2750
Seth Thomas Clock Co. hanging clock, "Flora", ca
1883. This clock is not as common as many of their
early models and is especially rare
because it was made of oak. It is a
great looking clock, oak aged suf-
ficiently that it is now between a
medium and dark oak. There are
carved designs on the case sides,
the top, and around the door. I did
not hang the brass weights in the
clock for the picture but they are
polished and match the brass pul-
leys, brass damascened pendulum,
brass beat scale, brass Cathedral
bell, and the brass dial rings. Other
nice brass pieces are the hinges,
door lock, the winding key, and of course the 8 day
brass movement, all original to the clock except the
winding key. Inside is a nice black label, an origi-
nal painted dial and hands. The dial is slightly
faded and has a couple of small paint chips.
Remember when this model sold for around
$5000? Ly-Seth Thomas, page 327. $3000-$4000.

$5000
aterbury Clock Co. "Regulator No.4", ca 1886.
Made of walnut and standing 70" high, this very
rare model is almost never seen for
sale. e sold a two weight in our
July 2002 auction and a one weight
in a more recent auction, for
$7800. This two weight model is in
very good original condition with a
nice original finish, glass sides,
and a gold border on the front
glass. There are carved pieces on
the top, base, and door, but none
are real intricate. There are deep
grooves on the door facing, the top,
and the base. The time only move-
ment is powered by two weights, it
beats seconds, has dead beat
escapement and retaining power.
The painted metal dial is signed,
and has hardly any paint loss or wear. The hands,
brass pendulum bob, wood stick, signed brass
beat scale, and the two brass weights all are orig-
inal to the clock. A very nice original and rare
clock. Ly- aterbury, page 176. $5000-$6000.

$1000
Seth Thomas Clock Co. "Regulator No.2", ca
1920 s. The old oak case is near perfect and is 36"
long. Its appearance would indi-
cate it hung in a nice environment
and not in a factory or commercial
place. The case is clean and pol-
ished, all original and complete. It
has a new paint on the dial, expert-
ly done by The Dial House.
Repainted dials seems to be
emblematic for Seth Thomas
dials. Their clocks were as well
made as anyone s, maybe better,
but they must have used "white
wash" for dial paint. The hands,
weight, pulley, pendulum bob,
wood stick, door lock, and beat scale, are all original
ST stock. The signed 8 day time only brass move-
ment is clean and running properly. This model has
to be America s favorite clock for everyone seems to
have at least one in their home. Ly-Seth Thomas,
page 277. $1250-$1500.

aterbury Clock Co. "Augusta", ca 1893. The
oak case has a cabinet finish, glass sides, and
many gilt ornaments over the
51" high case.
aterbury
called the cast ornaments "gilt"
but they are brass to me. This
clock is as clean and nice as
you would hope to find. It
came from Keith and Donna
Millers Home which means it
had to be all original and very
nice or they would not have
displayed it. All the decora-
tions, ornaments, turnings, and
carvings are original and all are
present. The two weights are
spiral and attached to clean
brass chains. The columns on
the front of the case are also
spiral. The clock has the correct aterbury pen-
dulum, silver dial, and hands. The old dial is
slightly age soiled but like everything else it is
original. ou can have it resilvered but lose the
originality of the clock.
e have sold or seen
very few of this model in 40 years of selling
clocks. Ly- aterbury #600. $2500-$3000.

$2600
Seth Thomas Clock Co. "Regulator No.30", ca
1905. Golden oak case is as clean and polished as
you would hope to find. It is 49"
long, complete, all original, and
has no new, replaced, or dam-
aged parts. It came to us from
the collectors wall where it had
been providing excellent time-
keeping and personal enjoy-
ment for many years. The paint-
ed dial is near perfect, signed by
Seth Thomas, and has three cor-
rect and original hands. The dial
ring is polished, so is the
weight, pendulum bob, and beat
scale. The wood stick and all
other accessories including the
door locks, movement mounts, and the 8 day
movement are all original Seth Thomas stock.
e do not get clocks any nicer than this one. Ly-
Seth Thomas #306. $2750-$3250.

$1900
m. L. Gilbert Clock Co. "Regulator No.1", ca
1875. The movement is 8 day, time only, weight
driven, and has a dead beat
escapement. The one weight
descends down the middle of the
case behind the wood baffle
board. The baffle board slides up
allowing access to the weight.
There is a complete paper label
on the baffle board. The rose-
wood case is 33.5" high, and in
near perfect original condition.
The only blemish to the clock is
an oil stain on the seconds dial.
Dings, scuffs, etc. are inconse-
quential. The hands, dials, nick-
el bezel, glasses, lower glass, brass bob and wood
stick, are all original to the clock and in very good
condition. This clock is as nice as any Gilbert No.1
we have seen. e sold it to a collector years ago
and got it back when we bought his entire collec-
tion. Ly-Gilbert, page 130. $2000-$2500.

$4000
Ithaca Calendar Clock Co. "No.2 Bank", ca 1880.
The walnut case is 5 feet tall, very clean, polished,
has all 5 original finials, and a
removable (slide off) bottom sec-
tion. The case is all original and
complete. The 8 day movement is
weight driven by two large iron
weights that descend the case sides
from pulleys above and behind the
movement. The weights, pendu-
lum, movement, and all other
internal parts appear to be original
to this case. Both dials are original
and are signed, and aged graceful-
ly with expected wear. The hands
all are proper for the model. New
paper dials are easy to obtain and
many collectors change dials regularly. If you like
original, keep these dials on the pans. Ly-Calendar
Clocks, pages 128-129. $4000-$5000.

$1750
Ithaca Calendar Clock Co., "No. 6 Shelf
Belgrade", ca 1880. A very collectable and valuable
clock with some minor deficiencies,
the worst being the missing small
leaf on the top. The backboard is an
old replacement and at least one of
the dial papers has been replaced.
Most Ithaca dial papers are changed
several times over their life. The
unusual case wood is ash and has the
wood pendulum swinging in front
of the lower dial. The pendulum is
original and in very good condition.
The movements are correct but a
wire is loose that goes from the upper movement to
the lower. An easy fix, you just reattach. The case is
32" high, clean and polished and has numerous
incised designs all over the case and they are gold
filled, even those on the pendulum. All three hands
are correct, the calendar papers are original, and the
lower dial paper is original and signed several
places. This is a very uncommon, seldom seen
model, and other than the little leaf on top is in good
condition. Ly-Calendar, page 139. $1750-$2250.
