$50
E. N. Welch beehive, ca about 1850. Very nice
mahogany veneered case standing 18.5" high,
has some chips on the bottom
edge otherwise the veneer is
very good. Both glasses are
replacements, door latch is
operable, and there is a brass
bob and key. Old dial is very
worn, numerals are faint. Coil
gong and 8 day brass move-
ment inside. Needs some
work but is the best of this lot
of beehive cases. $50-$100.

American beehive, not signed on the 8 day brass
movement, the painted dial, or on the case any-
where. Ca about 1850.
Mahogany veneered case is
19" high and has good
veneer all over but there has
been veneer repairs on the
door. Original putty around
both old glasses, door latch,
pendulum bob, and coil
gong with brass gong base.
The dial has worn some and
has some paint loss mostly
around the arbors and
screws. The 8 day move-
ment is complete but I would assume needs to be
serviced. $50-$100.

$50
"Chauncey Jerome / New Haven, Conn.", Union
shelf model with eight day striking movement, ca
1850. Very rough
clock case but you
do have a good
fusee
movement
signed by the maker. You are
missing a dial, hands, gong,
and
pendulum.
The
mahogany case is very dirty,
some veneer missing on the
base, the door frame has
been painted, not sure but
that may be original. Of course you will have to
redo the door and case if you wish to restore the
case. Push button door latch on the side. Case is
14" high. $50-$100.

E. N. Welch, Mfg. Co. / Forestville, Conn. U.S.A.",
"Sharp Gothic" spring steeple clock, ca 1885. Case
is 19" tall and made with
mahogany veneer. It is a light red-
dish color, clean and polished. The
veneer is excellent and has only
one small chip on the rounded left
side at the bottom. Original glass-
es, door latch and finials. The bot-
tom glass is peeling so I assume
the gray backing is more recent
than the red roses. The left finial
has a broken tip. The label is com-
plete, original painted dial is now weak but clean and
has old hands. The movement is 30 hour time and
strike on a coil gong. Ly-Welch #403. $50-$100.

$25
New Haven Clock Co. 8 day time and striking
miniature OG, 18" high mahogany veneered case,
ca 1880. Other than what you
see missing, the veneer, this is
a very nice clock. Good glass-
es, door knob, painted dial and
hands, full paper label, coil
gong, brass pendulum bob,
alarm set ring and alarm move-
ment, and the 8 day time and
striking brass movement. If all
else fails you could strip off
the rest of the veneer around the front outer edge
and stain it. Ly-New Haven, page 307. $50-$100.

"Brewster & Ingrahams, / Bristol, Conn.", 8 day
steeple clock that is better than it looks, ca 1843.
The mahogany veneer on the
sides is good, but you will
need to work on the front. The
case is 20" tall, has the door
latch, original top glass, no
bottom glass, good label
inside, coil gong, and the
painted dial. Yes, it needs
painting. A shame because it
had the original signature on
the dial. The 8 day movement
strikes on the coil gong, it is
complete but bears checking it
over. Surely it is much nicer than the front of the
case. No hands or pendulum bob. $50-$100.

E. N. Welch "Drop Octagon No.2", ca 1878. This
clock was scattered over the house when we picked
up the collection. He was in the
process of "restoring" it. I man-
aged to find the correct parts and
piece it together. He was refin-
ishing the case and had not yet
done the base. Both glasses,
lower door frame and brass
bezel are not attached yet, just in
place for the picture. The bezel,
glass, dial, and lower glass, are
all original to the case. Inside is a very nice label
and the J. C. Brown 1845 timepiece movement we
call the "ladder" movement, long and skinny. Welch
evidently continued using that movement long after
he acquired Brown s assets. The case is 25" tall, has
a good 12" metal dial, but no hands or pendulum
bob. Quite a bit of "refinishing" to do but will make
a nice early clock with a rare and early 8 day move-
ment. Ly-Welch, page 118. $100-$200.

"E. & A. Ingraham, / Late Brewster &
Ingrahams, / Bristol, Conn.", beehive clock need-
ing restoration, ca 1852-
1855. Mahogany venered
case is 16.5" high, some
veneer bleached, chips on
the base and door frame.
Round glass is original, no
glass in the bottom. Door
lock is a replacement, door
hinges in place. Replaced
dial is aluminum, coil gong
and base are original and
there is a dandy complete
label. Complete 30 hour
time and strike movement, no pendulum. $50-
$100.

"Brewster & Ingrahams, / Bristol, Conn.", thirty
hour steeple clock, ca 1844. The mahogany
veneered case is 18 " high
and what they called their
size case. Strangely it has a
brass escutcheon, door lock,
and key, both glasses are old
but I am not sure the very nice
bottom glass is original to this
case. Complete paper label, old
painted zinc dial and hands.
The dial is worn but has very
little paint loss. Inside is the
signed brass movement with
brass springs. This clock was a
work in progress when the col-
lector became unable to complete the work and
the movement and some wheels were put back in
the case. Some wheels in the bottom. I did not
take the time to put it together. If you buy the
clock and it turns out to have something missing
let me know and I will refund all or part, your
call. Ly-Ingrahams, page 51. $50-$100.

$25
Miniature OG case with a 30 hour movement. I
believe this is a Welch clock ca 1880, but it is not
signed anywhere and does not
have a label. Original door
knob, glasses, painted dial, coil
gong, pendulum, hands, and a
30 hour time and strike move-
ment. Mahogany veneered case
is 18" high, has corner chips
and rough on bottom edge but
overall is just a crusty original
case. $25-$50.

Novelty clock made by, "Deemer Mfg. Co.,
Chicago, ca 1890-1900. Early Westclox alarm
clock. The dial is signed, "A.
L. Swift, Chicago". Made to
resemble a pot bellied stove
which Deemer is believed to
have made. Thirty hour move-
ment is running, alarm bell
underneath. Winds and sets on
the back. 10" high cast iron
case is clean and in very good
overall condition. $100-$150.

$75
Seth Thomas Clock Co., Thomaston, Conn. 8 day
cottage clock, time, strike, and alarm. It strikes
and alarms on an iron bell. The
8 day movement is the lyre
shaped, alarm movement is
below the dial and over the
complete paper label. Original
glasses and painted dial.
Considerable paint loss on the
dial. It has the "ST" hands and
a brass pendulum bob. The
rosewood veneered case is 15"
high, very dark and crusty, has never been
cleaned, has some veneer chips around the base.
$100-$150.
