Waterbury Clock Co. "Drop
Octagon Gilt. 8 Inch", ca 1891.
Mahogany veneered case is 19"
high, and should have what
Waterbury called, "Full Gilt
Molding". You can see rem-
nants of old gilt but it has been
covered with some modern day
gold or dirty brass paint. The
case is complete and original,
except for the paint. Good 8"
dial, old hands, good glasses,
and a correct pendulum. Just a
smidgen of a label on the back,
probably less than 5% of the
paper remaining, but enough to
tell it is a Waterbury. The 8 day
movement is time only and run-
ning. Ly-Waterbury #679.
$150-$250.

Seth Thomas Clock Co. "Drop
Octagon 10 Inch", ca 1883. The
mahogany case has been cleaned
of any smoke or other pollutants.
Now a rich medium dark
mahogany or walnut finish and
clean as a pin. It has a complete
label inside, old pendulum bob,
correct old hands, and good
original glasses. The two piece
signed dial paper is a replace-
ment. There is a factory stamp
on the back indicating the clock
was made in 1883. Movement is
8 day, time only, and running.

$300.

French Boulle clock, missing I am
guessing, the brass inlay. The case has all
the cast metal ornaments from the four
feet to the top piece. There are some
Boulle type decorations on the front, but
most of the gold is paint, in place of the
missing brass. The case is 12" high, sides
covered with a dark adamantine type fin-
ish. After you get past the case front, it is
a nice clock. Great porcelain dial, bowed
around the numerals and numbers, has
faint hairlines in the center, and a great
pair of French hands. Beveled glass in a
bronze sash, and a bright bronze dial
ring. Perforated metal back door with
cloth covering. Round French 8 day
movement, strikes a standing Cathedral
gong. The movement is signed,
"France", "Marti & Cie", and serial
number, "167". The same serial number
is inscribed on the pendulum bob. $300-$500.

$250
French desk clock with
inlaid brass, Boulle, and
Mother of Pearl over the
front. 11" high wood case
with ebony veneer all over.
All decorations are intact on
the front except for a small
piece or two of the red
Boulle. Brass and MOP are
all intact. Beveled glass over
the front, plastic type dial is
signed, "RT Marc / In Paris".
Some cracks in the plastic
dial and the veneer on one
side of the case is buckled
and cracked in the rolling
crevice. Round French, silk
thread suspension move-
ment, is running and strikes a
nickel bell. It is signed the
same as the dial, "Rt Marc / Paris", or something close to that. It has a
period pendulum and key, and they are correct for the clock. Removable
wood back door with a knob. The clock is all original and very nice for its
age which I judge to be ca 1850. $300-$500.

$275
French Boulle clock. Tortoiseshell on
the front and sides, some breaks or
cracks, but none of the tortoiseshell is
missing. Decorated all over with
painted metal ornaments and they are
all present and intact. Bowed and
beveled glass in the sash, unusual
dial is very similar to #692 above,
bowed on the time track, it has no
hairlines or cracks, and has good
French hands. Hinged back door is
shaped like the back of the case.
French round movement is 8 day,
strikes a nickel bell, it has no signa-
ture, but the movement and pendu-
lum share the same serial number.
This case is 14" high, complete and
all original. $300-$500.

Seth Thomas Clock Co. man-
tle clock, "Column", ca
1865-1875. Very nice rose-
wood veneered case is 16"
high, has beautiful veneer all
over, dark and never cleaned,
yet it is clean in the sense that
it is not crusty. A very few
small nicks on the edges, no
glaring problems anywhere.
Original peephole glass and
gold around the upper glass-
es, but there is some wear on
the gold. Correct hands, dial
repainted, old brass bob, and
a complete "Thomaston"
label inside. The upper glass
has bubbles and we assume is
old, but we will not guarantee
it has always been in this
door, and the same with the
mirror. The movement is 8
day, time and striking a coil gong. Ly-Seth Thomas #1741. $200-$300.
