$275
Large polychrome painted
cuckoo clock with a two
tune music box. Featured
carvings are a bird on top, a
fox on the bottom, and
grapes and leaves through-
out. The lyre shaped move-
ment similar to some previ-
ous, lyre shaped, is signed,
"Made In Germany / Ed.
Herr Sohne". The cuckoo is
running, striking the coil
gong on the backboard, and
the two tune music box
plays. The carved case is
almost 27" high, has a few
nicks and small chips from
hauling unprotected, and a
crack in the birds tail feath-
ers. The three small iron
weights are not pictured.
$300-$500.

$175
Cuckoo-Quail, case featuring carved
woodpeckers on the sides and an
excellent carved bird on top. All three
birds have glass eyes. This German
Black Forest cuckoo is unsigned, ca
about 1900 judging from the con-
struction of the cuckoo and quail
birds. This case is 18" tall, not
including the pendulum or the three
large iron weights, not pictured. The
case is excellent, the only break is at
the base of the bird on the left. Clean
lyre shaped brass movement is not
signed. $200-$350.

Ansonia Clock Co. crystal regula-
tor, "Cetus", ca 1914. Brass case
is 11" high, has a strip of cast
designs around the top and base,
four perfect beveled glasses, but
the glasses and case need light
cleaning, just dirty around the
edges of the glass. Good two
piece porcelain dial, mini hair-
lines around the time wind arbor,
dial is signed, correct hands, and a
visible escapement. Correct two
jar imitation mercury pendulum
and a signed "Ansonia" wind key.
8 day movement is signed, run-
ning, and striking hours and half
hours on a hanging Cathedral
gong. A fine clock at a low price.
Ly-Ansonia #370. $300-$500.

$150
Large German cuckoo, 20½" high
not including the pendulum, and
there is a nice carved eagle on top,
ca around 1900. Brass movement
is signed, "G.G.B.", the trade
name for Joseph Burger & Sons,
of the Black Forest, Germany. The
one day movement plate is lyre
shaped, not clean, but functioning.
The large eagle top has sustained a
couple of breaks, but nicely
repaired and not discernable from
the front. The collector who accu-
mulated this group of cuckoos had
them put to running when he
acquired them. I suspect the hands
and numerals, and maybe the back
board of this clock, were not orig-
inal to this case, and the same may
be true of the other five. The
chains and pair of old iron weight
(not pictured) are old and may
well have come with the clock originally, who would know. $250-$400.

$175
Large German cuckoo-quail,
hunter style, deer hear on the
top, carved grapes and leaves
everywhere else, ca about
1900. Large brass movement
in lyre shape, signed,
G.G.B.", the trade name or
Joseph Burger & Sons, the
Black Forest, Germany. The
one day movement is dirty but
functioning. The top is good
except for a broken ear and
the antlers, leaves are fine.
Not big problems below, a
small chip, and a repaired
break or two on the leaves.
Old chains, pendulum, and
three iron weights (not in the
picture). As stated previously
the hands and numerals may
be replacements. $250-$400.

$200
Large hunter style German cuck-
oo-quail, ca late 1900's.
Movement is signed with a trade-
mark I cannot read, it may be,
"W.F", or "O.W.F.", or something
else entirely . There is a stamp on
the backboard, "Emil Kubler /
Gernsbach (Baden)", that I suspect
is the selling dealer. The carved
case is a little over 28" long not
including the pendulum. The three
iron cuckoo weights are not pic-
tured. Because it does not have a
lot of age the case is very nice, no
breaks or repairs, noticeably a
more recent cuckoo than the previ-
ous three, and looks pretty new in
places. $250-$500.
