$250
French clock with a large statue, ca
1890. If you can get past a few prob-
lems you may enjoy this big clock.
Pink marble/onyx base held up by
four large feet. Large metal dial sur-
round, beveled glass in the French
sash, one piece, slightly bowed,
painted porcelain dial, and a good set
of French hands. The base is 8½"
high and the statue 20" high. It does
not appear to me that the statue and
base began life together. The statue is
signed by the sculptor and the fellow
holding the calipers is called,
"Industrie". There are small chips on
the marble, one back foot is broken at
the tip, and the statue fellow is miss-
ing a thumb and whatever he may
have been holding in that hand.
Perforated, hinged, metal back cover,
pendulum and key inside. French 8
day movement is signed, cannot read
the name, strikes a bell on hours and
half hours. $250-$350.

Ansonia Clock Co. novelty clock, "Army",
ca 1901. Apparently it is complete except for
a bugle. There is no evidence one was ever
attached but the catalogs show this model
with a bugle. One of the bayonets on top
looks funky, and may be a replacement.
There is a chain holding the clock rather than
a leather strap, and the drum case may have
some new paint. The piece is 12" tall, small
clock case looks like an Army drum, back-
wind and running. Porcelain dial ring with a
hairline, metal dial center, and ok hands. Ly-
Ansonia #2207. Would be worth $1000 if
more original. $300-$500.

$200
Cuckoo-Quail, in a large case and it
has a large brass movement, signed,
"J. Miller & Co. / Germany", ca about
1900. The carved case is about 22"
high not including the pendulum. The
top piece has been broken in one place
and repaired very nicely; and the bot-
tom leaf has been broken and glued
back, but was broken in the vein of the
leaf so you cannot see the break. There
are other minor imperfections but not
bad considering how the clock is con-
structed. The clock has new bellows
and other service was performed as
needed to put the movement in run-
ning condition. The movement is not
clean and bright, but is functioning.
Hands and numerals may not be origi-
nal. There are three period iron cuckoo weight, not pictured. Nice size
cuckoo-quail, and at a very low minimum. A few years ago we were sell-
ing cuckoo's like this for near $1000. $300-$500.

$200
Gold novelty clock, 11½" high. Bronze case
with gold wash that is still intact. Several
unusual castings beginning with the wreath and
lyre with wires on top. Cast lyre shaped frame
supporting the wreath and the watch/clock. A
pair of swans holding the lyre. Between the
swans is a box. On the front of the box are
leaves and vines and a rabbit in his nest. The
base is wood, covered with a bronze wrap-
around, and it has inscribed designs. The base
is also wrapped around the wood. The incom-
plete clock/watch has a silver dial, no hands,
raised numerals and etched designs. The move-
ment is signed, "John Hawley & Son, London
& Coventry", and a serial number. The
watch/clock winds in back, and will run a little
but I know it is not complete. $250-$500.

$150
French double statue clock on a red
and white marble base, ca 1895. I do
not believe this piece was ever intend-
ed to bring big bucks even though the
statues and surroundings are good. I
say that because the 8 day movement
is time only, in a tin can case, not a
pendulum movement, the glass is not
beveled, and the dial ring is a cheap
plastic appearing thing that is now
discolored, and even the hands are not
up to French standards. The metal
and marble piece is about 22" high,
there is a good size chink broken off
the right front corner. Good cast feet,
several cast metal ornaments on and
about the clock, and of course, the
two young people are having fun, and
that is the only thing this clock has
going for it. $150-$250.

$150
French clock on a large mar-
ble/onyx base, with a metal stat-
ue, ca 1885. The sculptors name
is signed on the metal statue, and
a plaque on the base identifies her
as, "Melodie Champetre", (a rus-
tic melody) by Moreau. With an
arm missing, she looks more like
Venus de Milo. There are four
huge metal feet underneath the
marble base, attached metal orna-
ments on the sides and around the
dial. Machined sash with a
beveled glass over the one piece
painted porcelain dial. Nice
French hands, and a pendulum
and key. French 8 day movement
is round, has outside count, strik-
ing a nickel bell, and is signed,
"Japy Freres". $200-$300.
