Horton's Antique Clocks
650.
$200
"Smith & Goodrich / Bristol, Conn.",
from the complete green paper label
inside this double fusee shelf clock, ca
1850. This is a little different style case
than we usually see with fusee move-
ments. First off the mahogany veneered
case is 16½" high, door edges are
rounded, good veneer all over, perhaps
a corner nick or two and some dents on
top. Unusual but original glass has the
US flag shield and eagle in the center,
and a border around the edge of the
glass. The brass 30 hour movement is
not signed, and is complete and opera-
tional. Double fusee spools attached to
iron plates that attach to the bottom of
the movement. It strikes hours on an
iron bell. Brass bob and key included.
The only demerit is a new dial. $300-
$500.

$200
Hubbell 30 hour movement in this
unusual mantle clock, made by an
unknown maker. The movement is
identical to the balance wheel
movement in the Ansonia Brass &
Copper Company clock, "Tucker
No.2", ca 1874. The movement is
pictured in Ly-Ansonia #1384. This
mahogany case is 14½" high, com-
plete, original, and in overall nice
condition. The brass sash is holding
a deeply beveled glass over the
replaced paper dial. The beveled
glass may not be original. This
clock did not take off when I wound
it. All of Lee Smith's clocks were
apparently running when I took
possession, so I do not figure it is
anything seriously wrong with the
movement. $200-$300.

$250
Gustav Becker two weight Vienna
Regulator, ca 1872. This is a very early
movement made in the years when very
few were made. The serial number is
#73988. It is an 8 day time only move-
ment, signed by GB, and running. The
walnut case is wonderful, what with the
carved capitals and bases on the grooved
half columns, applied carving on the tail,
good finials and other nice trim work all
over. Unfortunately, it does not have a
top, hence the low minimum. Without a
top, it is about 40" high. The nice origi-
nal case now has a coat of varnish mak-
ing it a tad glossy. It has a good brass
bob, wood stick, good brass weight and
pulley, porcelain beat scale, wall level-
ers, near perfect two piece porcelain dial,
and an original pair of hands. Too bad
about the top, of course you can buy old
tops. $300-$500.

$100
"Ansonia Brass Co., / Ansonia, Conn.",
from the full paper label inside, ca 1854-
1860. Miniature 15" high mahogany
veneered case has one small chip, some
dents, and a finial tip broken. Case is
original, glasses, dial, and hands are
original, and is overall a nice little clock.
The dial is very nice, slightly yellowed
but no chips. There is an old brass bob
and key in the case. The little thirty hour
brass movement is complete with an
internal alarm that rings on an iron bell.
$150-$250.

$300
French Morbier wall clock in
generally good original condi-
tion, ca 1850. The thin metal
dial surround depicts a couple
of gardeners, hoeing and
watering their vegetables.
Large one piece porcelain dial,
slightly bowed, great old
hands, some chips on the outer
edge and light hairlines, but
for its age and the fact it is not
protected, it is nice. Folding
pendulum, pair of old iron
weights, and a wind crank.
The heavy duty 8 day move-
ment is in an iron box, side
doors intact, back door is
missing. Strikes a large iron
bell on top of the case, on
hours and half hours, and
repeats the hours two minutes after the hour. It is known as a "call to
prayer" clock. $300-$500.

$225
French Art Deco
marble clock, ca
1920's. The case
is comprised of
brown and tan
shades of mar-
ble, with a pair
of white swans
adorning the
sides, that I
believe to be
cast metal. The
case is 17½" by 9½", complete of its pieces, a repaired crack thru the cen-
ter, underneath. Silver dial, original hands, sash and glass are hinged at
the top. The dial is signed, "Margastaut / Castres / `Just'."
The black marble and the swan are on a piece of silver metal the same as
the dial. Typical French round movement, bell strike, outside count, metal
back door, pierced and cloth covered. The 8 day movement is not signed,
pendulum and key in the case. $250-$500.
