$100
Seth Thomas Clock Co. early
weight mantle clock, "Column
Shell", ca 1863. Rosewood case is
25" high, shell columns, gold paint-
ed capitals and bases. Good glasses,
bottom reverse painted still with
very good original paint. Replaced
metal painted dial, correct old
hands, iron weights, bob and wind
crank. Excellent paper label inside,
brass 30 hour movement, striking a
coil gong. The veneered case has a
few edge tics, very good consider-
ing its age. It has not been cleaned,
retaining years of smoke accumula-
tion. Ly-Seth Thomas #1751. $100-
$200.

$100
Seth Thomas Clock Co. weight dri-
ven mantle clock, "Column Shell",
ca 1863. Mahogany veneered case is
25" high, near perfect, maybe a
veneer tic on the bottom board or an
edge somewhere, but looks awesome,
clean and polished. Shell columns
has near perfect gold capitals and
bases, fantastic glasses, original zinc
painted dial and everything else it
should have, i.e. pair of iron weights,
old bob and crank, perfect paper
label, and of course the brass 8 day
movement. It is running and striking
a coil gong on the hours. Other than a
worn and soiled dial, you will not
find one any nicer. Ly-Seth Thomas
#1751. $150-$300.

$100
German wall clock, early type with wood box
containing the movement. Wood plates, brass
gears, bell on top for the alarm, original hands,
and a signed glass dial. The dial is signed, "D.
R. Patent", (German Patent) and "LFS / Schutz
Marke", (translates to L. Furtwangler Sons /
Protected Trademark". Ebony painted wood
case is 9½" wide, movement is 30 hour, time
and alarm, pair of new cuckoo weights, repairs
to movement box, alarm hammer missing,
keeping time. $125-$250.

$100
French marble clock with spelter statue on
top. Together they are 26" tall. The marble
has very unusual circular designs, four
columns in front, and many layers of mar-
ble built up one on the other. Above and
below the columns are cast friezes of birds
sitting on a branch. Above the dial is a
longer cast frieze of birds. Unfortunately,
there is a crack in the base below the one
piece porcelain dial, a chip on the top in
back, and a plug of marble missing on the
base in the rear. Missing piece is about 2"
by 2", and I might very cleverly add that
you cannot see any of the damage unless
you closely inspect the case. The dial is
nice and is signed by a French dealer, and
the hands are correct for this type dial. The
round movement is 8 day, bell strike, out-
side count, and is signed by one of the
French Japy firms. Hinged back door is
cloth covered, pendulum and key are
included. The movement and dial should
be worth considerably more than our minimum. This clock is one of the frou-
frou clocks mentioned previously, and bought because it was different. The
breaks did not matter to that collector. $100-$300.

$200
Seth Thomas Clock Co. marble
clock, or perhaps I should say, a
monster marble clock. It weighs
60 pounds, stands 18" high and
is 19½" wide. I have to hire
"Two Men and a Truck" to
come and move the clock for
me. Surprisingly, it is in nice
condition with minimal corner
and edge tics, no cracks, breaks,
or repairs. The movement, dial,
Brocot escapement, sash with
beveled glass, cloth covered
back door, are all French style.
The movement is round, 8 day, outside count wheel, and strikes a standing
gong. It is signed, "S. Thomas / Thomaston, Ct. / U.S.A.". You will rarely see
Seth Thomas name signed that way. It is running briskly, and comes with a cor-
rect pendulum bob and key. The two piece porcelain dial is also signed, "Seth
Thomas", it has correct hands and a nice open escapement mechanism. The
case has not been cleaned or polished and would look ever so much nicer if
you will take a few minutes to do that. On the ends and front are large cast
busts of some Goddess. Neither this clock nor any other oversized Seth
Thomas marble clocks that we have sold in the past, are pictured in Ly-Seth
Thomas. This clock is a real bargain at this minimum. Just a few years ago, we
sold these large marble clocks for upwards of $1000. $250-$500.

$100
Cuckoo Clock Mfg. Co. wall clock, a latter day art
deco style. Brass numerals, dial rings, hands, trim
around the case edge, weight chains, and the pendu-
lum bob and stick. The weights are not original to
the clock and one would think cuckoo weights would
be appropriate, but they would not look right with all
the other brass parts. Movement is 8 day, striking,
and running. It is signed, "Cuckoo Clock Mfg. Co.
Inc. / Made in Germany". The box case is 10¾"
square, with pendulum on the crutch it is 30" high.
$100-$200.
